Z Robotics and Viettech complete a 40kW fiber laser project for PTSC Vung Tau

Z Robotics is proud to announce that, together with our partner Viettech, we have successfully completed and handed over a 40kW fiber laser cutting machine project for the PTSC Vung Tau factory. This large-scale project demonstrates our engineering team's mechanical–electrical–control integration capability for heavy industrial machinery.

Project overview

The project targets a powerful, multi-purpose metal cutting system for thick steel-plate machining in the oil & gas and steel-structure industries. The system was designed to perform high-speed fiber laser cutting and ultra-thick steel cutting by oxy-gas — all on a single machine.

5-axis oxy-gas head integration — cutting steel up to 150mm thick

The project's highlight is integrating an additional 5-axis oxy-gas cutting head onto the 40kW fiber laser machine. This combination significantly extends the machining capability: the machine can cut steel plate up to 150mm thick — far beyond the limits of conventional laser cutting, meeting the demanding requirements of the heavy steel-structure industry.

Beveling with the 5-axis cutting head

Thanks to both the 5-axis fiber laser head and the 5-axis oxy-gas head, the system can bevel steel plate edges during cutting. This bevel capability is especially important for weld-preparation in steel-structure and pipe fabrication, saving time and improving quality.

Yaskawa Sigma X drive-system upgrade

The entire drive and AC servo system was upgraded to the latest Yaskawa Sigma X series. This advanced servo generation delivers high precision, fast response, and stable operation — key factors for a large-format cutting system running continuously in a heavy-industry environment.
